£170.00
The Bob Cat – 52 has a fibreglass fuselage and balsa built up flying surfaces.
The wing span is 52 inches. One piece airframe made in USA.
I bought the plane ( with no engine ) as part of a job lot from someone quitting the hobby. The plane had never been flown.
A fellow club member who already had a Bobcat said that his plane fitted with an Irvine 52 was slightly under powered. I therefore purchased a new and larger Irvine engine size 53.
My fellow club member then offered to test fly it. Unfortunately our club field did not have a decent runway.
The plane took longer to take off due to the very poor condition of the runway. Once in the air the plane performed very well and had sufficient power. He made a second flight with it after making some small adjustments. Both landings OK’ish but a small repair was necessary to the wheel mounting on one side ( shown in photos )
At the time I was more interested in electric gliders and the Club never got round to improving the runway for a third flight. The plane went into storage where it has hung undisturbed for ten years.
During a recent clear out of my garage I took the plane down for an inspection and clean-up.
The engine bearings were seized so I stripped it down and replaced the two bearings. The fuel tank was removed and flushed out.
All the servos work and they are Futaba S3003 -throttle, Two SuperTec Mini/std – Rudders, Two Futaba S3003 – Ailerons,
two SuperTec Mini/std – Elevator and one Futaba FP148 for the steering nose wheel.
A five cell NiMH battery is located at the nose end with a very small piece of lead.
An APC Pusher prop size 279mm x 178mm is fitted ( and I have a spare ).
The plane is priced to sell at £ 170.00, no offers.
