This is a brand new Mayatech brushless motor test rig for electric motors up to 10KG thrust. Take the guesswork out of getting your power system optimised.

This handy tool lets you check out your motor/propeller combinations easily at home without needing to install anything into a model until you’ve finalised the setup. The stand can handle a wide variety of motors and measure up to 10kg of thrust. High precision linear bearings and thrust sensor give accurate thrust readings down to the gram.

It is also equipped with a power analyser to measure measure Volts, Amps and Watts. The backlit LCD screen displays the measured parameters in an easy to read format with the thrust value being displayed in a separate screen.

Using the integrated XT-60 connectors, the flight battery appropriate to the motor being tested is connected to the unit’s input connecter and your ECU and motor is then connected to the output connector.

It has been designed to be as robust as possible. All components including the heavy duty base are made from CNC machined aluminium alloy. Holes are provided in the base to secure it to a table or workbench easily.

The buttons adjacent to the thrust indicating LCD are captioned in Chinese. The left hand one is the on/off switch, middle is selection of grams or ounces indications and the right hand zeros the reading.

Thrust can be measured in either direction, so that a pusher propellor combination can also be calibrated.

The LCD display mounted in the enclosure marked “Mayatech” measures the following parameters:

• Current drawn in Amps
• Battery Volts
• Power in Watts

• The remaining indication cycles between:
• Peak Amps
• Peak Watts
• Watt/Hours
• Median Volts

It’s probably worth pointing out that to test the larger, higher thrust motors, the provided motor mount adaptor would be inadequate. The user would need to fabricate a suitable mounting plate or box.
