Southerner Major 84” span.
I built this model from a Belair short kit about 6 years ago.
Intending it to be electric the nose was extended by 1” to allow for the lighter weight of electric power compared to the petrol engines of the day when it was designed, but lead was still required in the nose.
The model is complete including 2 Futaba servos (S3115) but minus the motor and esc. The wing was built as the dihedral (rather than polyhedral) version which I thought looked prettier and steers adequately on rudder.
The model was overpowered with the 650Kv motor fitted. The battery compartment will take a 4S 3700mAh lipo.
As seen it weighs 6 lbs, with its all-painted finish its heavier than usual for a model of this type consequently it flies faster than I’d like from vintage designs.
The nose and battery hatches are retained with neodym magnets to make access quick and simple.
Located in north Lincolnshire, the model will have to be collected.
