The Spin EL and Elf Pro are cutting-edge ultra-light powered gliders from Vladimir’s Models based in the Ukraine. Very sadly, the war stopped all production so the models that are out there in the world are, for now, the last of their kind.

A few years ago I was looking for a Spin EL (full-span ailerons, rudder, elevator, motor), but could only find an Elf Pro (rudder, elevator, motor) for sale … so I bought that … then shortly afterwards I found a Spin EL for sale … and given how hard these models are to find nowadays, I bought that too!

Because the fuselage pod, motor, boom, horizontal stabiliser, fin and batteries are all interchangeable, I moved all the ‘best’ bits to the Spin EL as that’s the one I really wanted to fly. I still kept the Elf Pro as a valuable source of spare parts.

The Spin EL (and I’m sure the Elf Pro) flies incredibly well, is very agile, and glides for ages, but given it’s small size and light weight, it doesn’t really like wind. Given the limited number of times I can get out flying, I just haven’t found myself flying it much. Also, I’ve since bought a 2m electric thermal glider and find I’m flying that more than either the Spin or Elf Pro, so it’s time they moved on.

I’d ideally like to sell everything listed below in one lot – all parts except the wings are interchangeable.

• Spin EL with wing, horizontal stabiliser and fin bags
• Elf Pro with wing bags
• 4x 400mAh 2S batteries with JST-XH connectors only (used for power and balance) – gives a ~2.5 minute full-throttle run time, good for many climbs to height
• 3x 300mAh 2S batteries (1 with just a JST-XH connector, the other 2 with JST power plugs and JST-XH balance connectors)
• Spare horizontal stabiliser and spare fin (compatible with both models)
• Spare bag of rubber bands for the folding prop (compatible with both models)

For the batteries with just a JST-XH connector, you’ll need to use a harness like this to charge them:

As I moved the best bits to the Spin, the Spin is in excellent condition, just with a small crease at the bottom of the fin. I found it needed a washer on the base of the fin to fly best.

The Elf Pro has a repaired motor mount / firewall which works fine, but doesn’t look as nice. Also, I unfortunately knocked into the Elf Pro fin in my garage and it broke the control horn off and damaged the hinge, although I’m sure it’s repairable, it’s just outside my skill set to do so neatly.

The Elf Pro wing, boom and horizontal stabiliser are all immaculate.

The Spin has a 5ch Futaba receiver, the Elf Pro has a 4ch receiver, probably FrSky … I’m not 100% sure as I never actually flew the Elf Pro after buying it!
